What is in every issue

A named product with a stated payload. The figures below are today’s, from the same data the issue is written from.

Who is hiring, measured honestly

1,567 roles are open across 47 New York AI companies today. The issue reports the change like-for-like, so a company joining our coverage never reads as a hiring surge.

What they post as pay

Posted salary ranges by function and seniority. New York engineering roles currently run a $215k median, from 155 distinct posted ranges. Base pay only, and no figure where the data is thin.

The titles that did not exist two years ago

45 forward-deployed roles are open right now, alongside agent engineers, evals roles, and the other titles we track from their first appearance.

The skills and tools employers name

90 terms counted daily across 1,567 postings, from RAG and evals to which model providers companies ask for.

Questions

What is This Week in NYC AI Hiring?

A free weekly email built from the NYC AI Hiring Index. Each issue reports how many roles New York’s AI companies have open and how that changed on a like-for-like basis, what each function posts as pay, which job titles are newly appearing, and which tools and skills employers name. Every number comes from the companies’ own job boards.

Who is it for?

Three readers. People looking for an AI job in New York, who want to know who is actually hiring and what they pay. Hiring managers and founders, who want to see what competitors are posting this week. And investors, recruiters, and reporters who need a number they can cite about the city’s AI labor market.

What does it cost?

Nothing. It is free, and every issue is also published in full on this site.

What else will you send me?

The newsletter and nothing else. We do not add people to this list from our other forms: someone who downloaded a template did not ask for a weekly email, so they do not get one. Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe.

Where does the data come from?

From the public job boards of the companies on the NYC AI 100 and the AI in NYC Show roster, read once a day through the posting APIs that Greenhouse, Ashby, and Lever provide. Nothing comes from aggregators or surveys, and thin cells are left blank rather than estimated. The full method is on the Hiring Index page.

Can I read it without subscribing?

Yes. Every issue is archived on this page and on the Hiring Index, and there is an RSS feed for the issues alone. The email is the convenient way to get it, not the only one.
